How Do You Block Someone on TikTok 2024

TikTok is a wonderful platform for creating and sharing engaging videos with a global audience. However, with such a large community, it’s inevitable to come across some unwelcome people. Whether it’s dealing with persistent trolls, spammers, or just people who don’t give you the right vibe, blocking them becomes essential to maintaining your peace and creativity.

But How Do You Block Someone on TikTok?

Fortunately, TikTok offers a simple way to block users and protect your privacy. In fact, here is an easy step-by-step guide to help you block someone effectively!

How Do You Block Someone on TikTok

You might want to block someone on TikTok for many reasons. Maybe you don’t enjoy the content they create, or perhaps you want to prevent certain users from interacting with you or viewing your posts.

Well, for me, it’s generally the latter. I value protecting my content and privacy, especially from some creeps. Fortunately for us, TikTok makes it quite easy to block a user without even notifying them. We can discreetly block someone on TikTok without them even knowing it. Sounds wonderful, doesn’t it?

Here’s how you can do it:

1. On Mobile

Step 1: Open the TikTok App

First, sign in to your TikTok account on your mobile. I have used Android for this tutorial; however, if you are an Apple user, don’t worry. You will be able to follow along without any issues. The TikTok mobile app for iPhone is quite similar.

Step 2: Search for the Profile

Next, find the account you want to block. You can do this in a few ways:

  • For You Page: If you see their video on your “For You” page, tap on their username to visit their profile.
  • Search Bar: You can also search their profile by typing the user’s handle into the search bar or by serving them in your followers list.
  • Notifications: You can also access their profile from your notifications if they have recently liked or commented on your content.

Step 3: Access Profile Options

Once you are on their profile page, tap the share icon. It looks like a curved arrow pointing to the right. You can find it in the top right corner of the screen.

Step 4: Tap Block

Next, you will see several options in the “Share to” menu. Scroll down to find the “Block” option, which is generally at the bottom alongside options like “Report” and “Send a Message.” Here, you need to click on the block option.

Step 5: Confirm the Block

Finally, a confirmation message will appear, informing you that the user will no longer be able to interact with you or see your content.

Confirm this action, and the user will be blocked.

2. On Desktop

Well, just like on the TikTok app, you can also block someone on the TikTok website from your desktop. Here’s how you can do it in some easy steps:

  1. Open TikTok: Open your browser on your desktop and go to the TikTok desktop app or TikTok website.
  2. Find the Profile: Search for the profile you want to block. You can do this by using the search bar, checking your notifications, or browsing the ‘For You’ page (same as I mentioned above).
  3. Access the Profile: Once you are on the profile page, click the three horizontal dots next to the arrow icon.
  4. Block the User: From the dropdown menu, select “Block” and then confirm by clicking “Block” again.

And that’s all it takes to block someone on the TikTok website from your desktop.

How to Block People on TikTok in Bulk?

When you have numerous users bothering you in the comments on TikTok, blocking them in Bulk is one efficient solution. TikTok provides us with the handy option to block them in Bulk (up to 100 users at once), keeping us safe and away from spammers and scammers to protect. Here is how you can block people in Bulk:

  • Step 1: Open the comment section to one of your TikTok videos. Long-press a comment from an account you want to block.
  • Step 2: When a pop-up menu appears, select “Manage multiple comments.” This lets you mark the profiles you want to block ( you can choose up to a maximum of 100 accounts).
  • Step 3: After selecting the profiles, you will then see two options: Delete and More. Tap on “More.”
  • Step 4: Next, select “Block accounts” from the options.
  • Step 5: A confirmation notification will pop up. Tap “Block” to confirm and block the selected users.

This simple method helped me quickly get rid of multiple unwanted accounts in just a few minutes.

What Happens When You Block Someone on TikTok? And What Are the Benefits?

Now you know how to block someone on TikTok, but what happens next? Well, blocking someone on TikTok is an effective way to control your online experience. When you block a user, several changes occur to ensure your peace and privacy; these include:

  • No More Comments: The blocked user can no longer comment on your videos, keeping out any unwanted, deeming, or negative feedback.
  • No More Duets or Reactions: They can’t create duets or react to your content, so your videos are safe from being paired with theirs.
  • No More Direct Messages: Blocking stops all direct messages from that user, giving you a break from persistent and unwanted communication.
  • No More Profile Views: Your profile and videos become invisible to them, making it appear as if you have vanished from their TikTok world!

Basically, blocking on TikTok is a powerful tool, especially in today’s online safe.

In fact, with a significant portion of TikTok users being young—25% of U.S. users are aged 10 to 19, and 47.4% are under 30—blocking is essential for managing online interactions, especially for younger users who might face online harassment or unwarranted attention.

Here are some benefits of using the blocking feature:

  • Prevent Harassment: Blocking restricts any interaction with potential scammers, creeps, and people who harass, demean, or bully others, creating a safer environment.
  • Control Your Audience: With TikTok’s handy blocking feature, you decide who views your content, keeping away those who intend harmful or inappropriate behavior.
  • Protect Privacy: Blocking limits access to your personal information and content, safeguarding your privacy.
  • Maintain Quality Interactions: By blocking trolls and spammers, you can ensure more positive and supportive interactions on your videos.
