Where Did Porn Originate Exactly?

Curious about the history of porn addiction? Everyone has probably seen pornography in one form or another before, no matter where it came from. As one of our most instinctive desires, pornography has had a profound impact on society since the emergence of civilization.

Ancient porn

Pornography has been a part of the world since the first erotic depiction appeared in the Paleolithic era; later, in the 45th century, the printed form of “Copula’s Fable” became very popular.

It shows a young couple having sex with a woman’s legs high on one end of a bench; on the other end is a penis, with legs, wings, and a bell extending toward the bench.

Although hundreds of copies were printed, none of them survived.

Porn in the 1800s

In the mid to late 19th, the Lumière brothers used their new patent cinematography to shoot their first movie. The early-stage movies quickly became popular.

In 1896, a French film called Le Coucher de la Marie was released in Paris. This was the first pornographic movie released in the history of pornography.

With the advancement of technology and the reduction of film production costs, pornography had become a reality for the ordinary middle class.

The advancement of porn in the 1900s

At the beginning of the 19th century, the first dirty magazine Le Frisson was published. Half a century later, in 1953, Hugh Hefner published the first issue of “Playboy” starring Marilyn Monroe in the spotlight.

In order to compete with Hefner’s success, Bob Guccione (Bob Guccione) released a version of Playboy in the UK. The magazine was named Penthouse because it was more informative than the playboy.

Seven years later, “Deep Throat” was released. Although “Deep Throat” was clearly designed to be porn, this film made American audiences less appalled about the human body because it is not entirely about sex. It also had a plot, main characters, poor choice of music, and a lot of irony and humor.

Pornography and what it is today

In 1991, Tim Bernersley and his colleagues at CERN completed their work and publish them on the global web: the world of pornography had changed forever.

Less than three years later, Penthouse launched its first website in 1995. The website is visited 600,000 to 800,000 times a day.

In the same year, video conferencing technology was introduced. In 1997, the online peep show company Video Fantasy had 20,000 loyal subscribers,

Porn City had an average of 2 million views per day, and Playboy had 5 million views per day.

It is also worth noting that most of the people who make a huge contribution to the huge income of the porn industry are people who regularly subscribe to pornography, by this, we can create a link between pornography and addiction.

The Medical History of Addiction- Is Porn an Addiction?

Scientists are debating whether excessive use of pornography is an addiction in the medical sense.

The World Health Organization added compulsive sex as a mental health disorder in 2018. Although it does not emphasize addiction to pornography (or any other), it still refers to repetitive activities that become the core of a person’s life to the point where they ignore their health and personal care or other interests, activities, and responsibilities.

However, the “Guide to Diagnosis and Statistics of Mental Disorders” does not recognize pornography addiction. This is a book used by doctors to diagnose mental disorders.

Valerie Woon reported in the 2013 British documentary “Porn on the Brain” that the brains of pornographic users are still similar to the brains of alcoholics who watch alcohol advertisements.

Currently, psychiatrists can see many patients showing symptoms of pornography addiction or excessive pornography, complaining that they meet the addiction criteria.

Due to easy accessibility, accessibility, and anonymity, pornography overuse is rapidly growing and destroying all areas of life.

This work is ongoing, and more and more cases of porn addiction are treated and recognized, although the debate about whether it is addiction or mental disorder is still controversial among many researchers.
