The #1 Reason Why Porn can Cause More Problems than Illegal Drugs

Illegal drugs like cocaine, methamphetamine, LSD, DMT, and in some areas, marijuana can get you in a lot of trouble with your health and the law. According to the World Health Organisation, nearly 31 million people in the world have a drug problem that they’re actively dealing with. Statistics have found a correlation between drug abuse and unemployment, health problems, and general dissatisfaction in life.

The attractiveness of drugs

The youth is drawn to substances like narcotics because they offer stimulation and relaxation. Adolescents are stressed out from daily activities like school, preparing for exams, extracurricular activities, relationship problems, etc. Drugs can seem like an easy escape into another world where none of these problems exists, at least momentarily. However, it’s often not that simple. Drug use comes along with several problems that it can cause for the user.

When it comes to illegal drugs, there can be several challenges with obtaining it including

  • Finding a dealer
  • Arranging the money for the narcotics
  • Transporting the contraband
  • Managing to stay productive
  • Not getting caught

These are a lot of hurdles and hoops to go through just to get high. At a certain point, once the excitement wears off, it’s just not worth it to continue using the substances. The risks are too great. What if you get caught, not just by the police, but by your friends and family members? It can be severely disappointing to find out that someone close to you is using drugs because they could be unknowingly destroying their lives and harming others around them (passive smoking is the most common way).

These situations deter one from resorting to drugs and alcohol. It’s just not worth the trouble to endure for a few minutes or hours of being high. This is a conscious decision by the law and society to punish users who abuse and sell these substances. It helps keep drugs and alcohol out of the hands of those who are underage and would be risking their lives.

However, when it comes to porn, it’s not so simple.

While there is a law that prevents an underage individual from watching porn, it’s near difficult to enforce. The chances that your local law enforcement is going to know that an underage boy or girl is watching porn while using a VPN is so small, that it’s negligible. Lately, there have been advancements in stopping child pornography from being produced, shared, and watched which is fantastic, but more effort is required to completely stop it.

This is the #1 reason that porn can cause more problems than illegal drugs. The sheer availability. Anybody can easily log on to a porn website. It’s not hard at all to do. In fact, even if you didn’t know the exact URL you could just google it and a few results will surely come up. Within no time and almost no effort, you’re stimulating your brain to levels similar to that of hard drugs.

The side effects of porn

On paper that sounds amazing. Does this mean that with a click of a mouse, my brain could be lit up like Christmas? For little or no money? Without having to leave the house or even dressing up? Well, that probably must be the greatest thing on earth, right?

Of course not. This level of stimulation comes with problems as well. The side effects of consuming porn compulsively can be devastating. Not only does it cause dependence, but it can also leave you depressed and unable to sleep properly. It can leave you anxious and generally irritable within just a few days of using pornography. Not only this, but it can have severe physical repercussions like erectile dysfunction.

These reasons make watching porn not worth the risk for the number of problems that it can cause for the short term benefit that it provides. It’s not worth risking your mental and physical health for a simulation that isn’t even real. It’s akin to fooling yourself or rather living in a fool’s paradise. Erotic content will never replace the love and support that you would receive from a real-life partner that you deserve.

How we can protect ourselves

It’s easy to not let porn consume you. Never allow the habit to start so that you can never get addicted to it. However, we understand that this is an ideal situation and reality is often very different. You can come across porn, even if you have all the intentions on the contrary. It can happen if you click an ad by accident or by an annoying pop up that just happens to appear out of nowhere while you were surfing the web.

The Best Solution

The best way to ensure this never happens is by installing a porn blocker. Don’t let yourself fall victim to the harmful effects of pornography. A great app to install is BlockerX, a fast, effective, and easy to use solution to make sure that you never have to fall victim to erotic content even by accident.

It’s available on Android, iOS and Google Chrome so go ahead and install it on all your devices. It even comes with great features like ‘Talk to Peers’ which helps you to network with other users who may be struggling with a porn habit.

By installing this application, you remove the #1 reason that porn can cause more harm than illegal drugs – the sheer availability of it. Today porn is more available than ever before, sometimes it feels like it’s around every other link you might click on. It’s absolutely imperative that we protect ourselves from its harmful effects so that we’re not at risk of all the dangerous side effects that come with it, making sure that we remain happy and healthy and are able to function to our maximum potential, allowing us to become the best versions of ourselves.

  1. Thank you so much for this app. Also, if you are a Christian, please pray for me. This battle is tough and could use all the prayers in the world

  2. My habit sure has caused me a lot of problems. When I’ve actively decided to quit porn ( I’ve failed many times, and have to keep trying over the course of 3 years.) Other things came along with it. In my early twenties and yes teenage years I tried many drugs. I kept thinking “why do I constantly crave being high off anything I can get my hands on, when after I just feel like crap.” I felt this anxiety dreaming of a better life, knowing I could do better knowing that I had more potential than this so why was I still stuck? Why couldn’t I get myself to feel joy over accomplishments and just wanted to go back to the never ending loop of drug relapse even after kicking habit after habit. Little did I know that porn was the entire cause of my drug use. I would even think ” I wonder what porn is like on ecstasy,” or ” I wonder what porn is like on meth, cocaine etc.” When I pushed myself to go on nofap streaks I stayed sober from other drugs without even realizing it. Porn was the gateway that brought me to a downward spiral of experimentation of other substance Stimulation, and today it is still the hardest habit to quit. I’ve destroyed every relationship and every opportunity for a fullfilling relationship I’ve ever had over this, and now it’s hard to get a girlfriend because I relapse and withdrawal and withdrawal makes me have mood swings and motivation to keep up on my goals comes and goes. However, there is light at the end of the dark tunnel, I have felt it, I have seen it, and im not giving up until I have it back again. Right now I’m dealing with a hard relapse after a 35 day streak (wasn’t my longest streak, but certainly one of my most powerful ones) and the sober time showed me just how powerful a human mind can be when healing damage and not infected by this kind of stimulation. I want to speak out, I want everyone to know the damage it causes and everyone to know the struggle I had to endure battling this demon. If I had quit earlier I would be somewhere else right now, I’d be a brilliant scientist like I had set out to be and not a cashier working a dead end job just because I wanted to see naked people on a screen. When you abstain, all the sudden your path is more clear, and that dark cloud over your future is lifted. It’s difficult, and you will face many setbacks along the way, but don’t give up, because it is worth it. You truly begin to know who you really are when you start to feel freedom again.

  3. So true. These articles have helped me on the track to quit looking erotic material. One irritating thing i notice… There is “hot shot Casino” advertisement on the site. I feel it somehow ironic, that site which is helping people out of porn addiction, is advertising gambling, which is totally addictive, harmful and destructive behaviour in individuals life. Gambling can do more harm than porn, and is dopamin releasing behaviour such as porn. Many people have totally fucked up their lives by gambling their whole fortune.
